The Eternal Throne of David

Christmas comes upon us every year and prophecies concerning Christ are read. From ancient times until now man needed to hope in a Savior and a King from King David to reign over him. We hear over and over again the stories regarding Christ’s birth and the promises God once made to King David regarding his eternal throne. However, preaching stops short of seriously considering just what the promises to David recorded in II Samuel 7 really meant. They preach there is no throne today and the Jew is destitute of any king. Christ, we are assured, will one day be that King. Meanwhile, the world mocks the Christian’s invisible king and mocks the Jew who has none. It looks as if God failed His promises. In this message, we will show that God did not fail but fulfilled His promises in unexpected ways.

To start off, we must turn our attention to the "Jewish" patriarchs. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (renamed Israel) were given great promises by God. All biblical scholars agree that these promises were forerunners of Christ and Gentile blessings. The apostles agree to this also. However, what many may not understand are that these promises also apply to the PHYSICAL, blessed lineage of Abraham as well (i.e. Israel). Non-Israelite Gentiles are the SPIRITUAL seed of Abraham when they accept Christ by faith and are thus co-inheritors. What were these great promises? They were to become a great nation with specific land to occupy. They were to have a great name, become a blessing to all families of the Earth, and become as numerous as the sand of the seashore. In addition, they were to become a commonwealth of powerful nations and MANY kings were to come from them! As the reader can see, these promises were NOT fulfilled in Christ, the church, or the Jew. They must apply to somebody else or God is a liar.

These promises were passed down as the BIRTHRIGHT until we see in Genesis 49 Jacob split the birthright when he blessed his twelve sons. The tribe of JOSEPH received the BIRTHRIGHT while the tribe of JUDAH received the SCEPTRE (i.e. the promises of kings and to rule). Later, the tribe of Joseph, specifically Ephraim, became synonymous with the house of Israel because of its dominance and the tribe of Judah became the house of Judah. After King Solomon, the united Kingdom of Israel split into these two houses which had its origins in this prophecy of Jacob. The house of Israel had ten tribes to the North while the house of Judah was to the South. The word "Jew" is derived from the tribal name Judah. Oftentimes, Israelites are erroneously referred to as being Jews but they are not. God actually had TWO nations of people. Please see the message regarding the "Lost Ten Tribes of Israel" if you are unfamiliar with this. Unlike the Jew, Israel never returned to Palestine after their captivity but migrated to other lands. Back when Jacob blessed Judah, he clearly said, "The sceptre shall NOT depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet until Shiloh come [the Second Coming of Christ]." Does the reader understand this? NOT DEPART. That means CONTINUOUS rulers with NO INTERRUPTION. In Genesis 38, we read about Judah’s twin sons Pharez and Zarah. Zarah was the prince of the scarlet thread but the PHAREZ line produced King David and later Christ. What many do not realize was that historically Zarah’s descendents became kings in Egypt after this blessing. They escaped Egypt before the Exodus and settled various places around the Mediterranean region. They were founders of ancient Troy and migrated to what are now Spain and Ireland. The reader is asked to remember these fellows. They will be turning up later.

When the reader turns his attention to II Samuel 7, he can see God making a promise to King David. He promised David an eternal throne. What amazes the author is biblical footnotes quickly point out that the Earthly throne of David was fallen only to spiritualize the meaning of this promise as being fulfilled in Christ. But God meant just what He said. This was understood to mean physical, human kings. God also promised that Solomon’s throne would be eternal. Psalm 89 reaffirms this. David’s throne was understood to be ETERNAL and UNINTERRUPTED. (Indeed that is the definition of the word ‘eternal’. Something that has interruptions is NOT eternal. We would like to ask the reader how he or she would like to have ‘eternal life’ with periodic interruptions by spending some time in hell!) The writer of Psalm 89 understood the eternal nature of David’s throne otherwise he would not have lamented when it APPEARED fallen. After all, if the throne was a conditional promise only, would not the writer of the psalm expect the throne to be defeated? In actuality, he seems upset and even surprised that God would go back on his covenant with David. In addition, God promised to Solomon in I Kings 9 that if he or his descendants turned from following the Lord, the punishment would be EXILE and a FALLEN TEMPLE, but NOT an end to the throne. This implied rulers elsewhere. There is NOTHING that even HINTS that the throne would be vacant here on Earth.

Yet Christians and non-Christians commonly teach that King Zedekiah was the last Davidic king and David’s Earthly dynasty ended. A line of David was preserved to produce Christ who would later be king. Nevertheless to say, this theory allows for an interruption of several hundred years between Zedekiah and Christ’s first coming. And again needless to say, Christ assumed NO THRONE at His first coming. Acts 1:6 makes this clear. Jesus now sits at the right hand of God, not David’s throne (Hebrews 1:3) until His Second Coming. Who is on that throne? Would Jesus return to a vacant, nonexistent throne? Even so, we are ERRONEOUSLY taught that Jesus is NOW that king. We are taught that Jesus came from Solomon’s line. Certainly this is what Matthew’s genealogy indicates. But we claim that Matthew’s genealogy is wrong, wrong, WRONG if one regards it as the BLOODLINE of Christ. Why? Just look at that genealogy. It includes Solomon’s descendent King Jehoiachin. Jeremiah 22:30 placed a curse on King Jehoiachin. NO MESSIAH could possibly come from this genealogy. The reader may be asking himself at this point if we are challenging the Bible. No, but there is an answer to this apparent discrepancy. However, if this genealogy is not the bloodline of Jesus, then SOMEBODY must fulfill the promise regarding the eternal promise of Solomon’s throne. Why is this not taught in churches today? We believe there are two primary reasons. The first is ignorance. This is forgivable but one must change his position once this is known. The second reason is downright REBELLION. This truth is known but kept from the common folks hoping it is glossed over.

Jesus’ bloodline is not traced through Matthew’s genealogy. That is Joseph’s ancestry thus Jesus’ putative (legal) descent to both David’s and Solomon’s throne. Remember that Joseph did not impregnate Mary. The Holy Spirit did. Luke’s genealogy is that of Mary. This genealogy traces Jesus through David’s son NATHAN. Therefore, the curse of Jehoiachin was NOT on Jesus. God promised BOTH David AND Solomon an eternal throne. This alternate line from David are what Old Testament prophets referred to as the Branch (i.e. Jesus Christ). Thus Jesus was and is qualified to take the throne. In the meantime, WHO sits on the throne that is descended from the BLOODLINE of Solomon if God’s promise is true?

Let us turn back to the "last" King Zedekiah. He was Jehoiachin’s UNCLE. His descendents had no curse. Therefore, this lineage would be a good starting point. Zedekiah’s sons were killed in the captivity but not his daughters. Numbers 36 addressed the issue of female heirs if there were no male heirs for inheritance. This chapter was not written to make women libbers happy, but to prepare for a time in history when the Davidic throne through Solomon could be perpetuated through FEMALE heirs.

Ezekiel 17 parable about two eagles and the vine showed how God would take a ‘tender twig’ and plant it ‘in the mountain height of Israel’ which was symbolic of wherever the ‘lost tribes’ resided. This passage is mistakenly applied to Christ but the grammatical usage of the ‘tender twig’ was in the feminine whereas the masculine could have been used if it was truly referring to Christ. Besides, as already stated, Christ did not come from the genealogical line being discussed here. Rather, this twig represented one of Zedekiah’s daughters who was planted elsewhere. God promised in Jeremiah 33:17 that a Davidic descendent would reign over the house of Israel NOT Judah (the Jew)! Hence the throne would be moved from Palestine to a place where Israel resided.

This can be a topic of intense study in itself. In a nutshell Jeremiah the prophet had a major role in transplanting the throne. Biblically, this is only implied through prophecy (we believe that God intentionally wanted this unknown for awhile). Secular historical supplements are needed to complete the picture. According to this evidence, Jeremiah took the king’s daughters and married them to Zarahite kings in Spain and Ireland. Remember those Zarahites who escaped before the Exodus? They were also from the tribe of Judah. Thus, the promises to David and Solomon were continued elsewhere. The Anglo-Saxons and Celts descended from the house of Israel, thus Davidic kings reigned over them through Jeremiah’s transplanting work. Ezekiel 21:26-27 (KJV) speaks of exalting him that is low (the forgotten line of Zarah that did not rule in Palestine) and abasing him that is high (the line of Pharez). "Pharez", by the way, means "breach". There certainly was a breach in the Pharez line in Palestine only to be continued in the united Zarah-Pharez line elsewhere. See Genesis 38. That’s why Zarah was mentioned in Matthew’s genealogy. Why else would Jesus’ great, great, ….., great uncle even be mentioned unless there was significance to this? Most preachers are only aware of the PHAREZ BREACH in Palestine therefore David’s throne APPEARS FALLEN.

If we continue reading Ezekiel 21:26-27, we see that God would later overturn the throne three times (I will overturn, overturn, overturn it…") and then overturn it no more until "he come whose right it is". Historically, Jeremiah transplanted the throne to Ireland, then it eventually overturned to Scotland, and finally overturned to Britain where it is today. It will not overturn again until Christ comes. Queen Elizabeth II today can be traced back to King David and Solomon. British people are from the house of Israel namely the tribe of Ephraim who had the birthright blessing (Genesis 48:19). Hence God never failed His promises. Does not the British Commonwealth and by extension the United States have blessings that sound EXACTLY like those birthright blessings.? The birthright never went to the Jew. It went to Israel. These nations did not happen by accident. They were predestined to greatness (from which came the major Bible societies and missionary organizations that evangelized the world). God’s people Israel truly became a light to the world as stated in Isaiah 49. In these end times, God sends shepherds who teach this truth while enemies of the gospel denounce all this as hogwash thus effectively saying that God is a liar and DOES NOT PRESERVE THE DAVIDIC THRONE. And if we may add, if this all sounds so strange, Christians are already nuts to believe in the resurrection of Christ as far as the world is concerned. Therefore, if Christians truly believe what they say, what is so hard, pray tell, in believing that a society migrated elsewhere? This is not as much of a miracle as the resurrection. History shows this happened often. And if this is also so strange, what, pray tell, is the problem with showing that God stayed faithful to his word even if it sounds fantastic? What is the alternative? The alternative is to say THIS IS NOT TRUE and to EXPLAIN IT AWAY BY SWEEPING IT UNDER THE RUG! Now we respectfully ask, WHO appears to the unbeliever to be defending God’s word, we or mainline Christendom?

Those who deny the truth are FALSE PROPHETS who deny the Lord who bought them. They believe in apparent circumstances instead of God’s promises. They have forsaken the right way that God showed them and followed the ways of Balaam. They are without fruit, twice dead, and plucked up by the roots. They worship an easy, wide-pathed ‘Jehoiachin’ cursed Jesus which is no Jesus at all.

So as the reader can see, God did not fail. The throne continued whether anybody wants to believe it or not. Why is this important to know in these last days? It is important to know that God keeps His promises. We find it difficult to understand how anybody can say they trust in Jesus as their Savior and then not believe God kept his promise to David. If He did not keep His promise, how can one know for sure that he is even saved? God may say that He will save one through Christ and then not do it! Also, it is important to know WHO the Israelites even are to understand prophecy. To apply all prophecies to the Jew only causes inconsistencies and confusion because of contradictions that arise.

We can be assured that God will always keep His word even when his people fail! This brings about a wonderful sense of awe, assurance, knowledge, and praise!
