Through the Bible in a Year

By Liaf

OK--- I laid the challenge down to the people that I go to church with, and I want to do likewise with all my readers out there. The end of 2005 is just a few short months away and 2006 will start soon. In addition to the bible download on this site (link supplied at the end of this message as well), I also have a checklist to get you through the bible (excluding the apocrypha) in a year.

I think if there are any readers of this site who have not read through the bible at least once, I think it's high time we do so. With today's technology, Internet, and information at our fingertips, there is no excuse for being an ignorant Christian with web sites galore proclaiming the Word of the Lord, and that goes double for bible reading. As a matter of fact, if you download our HTML version of the bible and read it, you will find that for some reason you can go "double the speed" looking at a monitor rather than reading your King James bibles. Don't ask me why, but this is an advantage provided you do not burn out your eyeballs reading too long as you may get engrossed in it.

Some people may ask, "But Liaf, there are lots of freeware KJV bibles out there that have study helps and even concordances. Why download a simple version of the KJV bible in HTML format?" Good question. Sometimes, simpler is better. I find that these books of the bible can fit on a memory stick or piecemeal on a floppy disk. You see where I'm going here? You can insert a disk into any computer and read the bible WITHOUT HAVING TO INSTALL A PROGRAM. The computer remains unaffected and then you can just pop it out again and nobody's the wiser. This is especially true in a work situation for example where you may be periodically watching a process and in between you otherwise have nothing better to do than to twiddle your thumbs (like me). Pop in the disk, open an HTML window, and read the bible! You can even minimize it when boss man or woman comes around :-). (You may want to clear your documents menu if some people use that feature to call up previously accessed documents. But if nothing's there, there is no reason to suspect anything to begin with :-) )

With all this being said, I have a link below for the KJV download page (which is at the end of that page AND the new checklist added to that page).
