UFOs Over Washington D.C.

By Liaf

I don't know about you, but I'm a little bit of a nervous flyer. Take-offs and landings especially bother me since I understand that they are the most critical part of the flight. If an error or problem were to occur, this is when most problems would happen, so I have heard. However, since I am getting older and crustier, things like this do not bother me with the intensity that they once did. So what if I crash? If my hope is in the Lord, I'll be with Him throughout eternity anyway--- whether sooner or later. Therefore, I put my mind on diversionary tactics during these times. I often wondered what would happen and how I would feel if I saw a UFO while up there in the sky. As much as I really want to see one, I have yet to see one up there in the sky. I'm not sure about the ground.

I said this before in another message and I'll say it again. If one really believes the Bible, one will find some weird things mentioned in there at times. In the past, these UFOs were most likely regarded as angelic beings. Such is the case in Ezekiel chapter one. Good gravy, if that was not a UFO that Ezekiel saw, I don't know what was. Over a hundred years ago when seances were popular, these things would have been explained as "ghosts". Today in our high-tech world, they are beings from other planets. I believe these things all have something in common. Did you ever notice that people who tell UFO tales oftentimes describe an extraterrestrial in "spiritual" terms? These things are there, yet other people may not see them. Sometimes their presence is felt, but not always seen openly.

"What are you getting at Liaf?" Merely this. Something is out there. The Bible confirms that--- and if people really believed the Bible as many say they do, this would not be considered an area of "occult" necessarily. "But what if these things are demonic beings?" insists a preacher who wants you to steer away from the wiles of the devil. I say, "So what if they were?" It makes sense to me that if we are at least aware that something is going on, we are better equipped to be prepared as to what is happening in the spiritual realm. To me, the supposed UFO-infested Bermuda Triangle sounds something like that abyss (bottomless pit) in Revelation! Speaking of the Bermuda Triangle, I must say odd things happen there. I had a horrific dream while sailing thru the Triangle one time. Maybe that was coincidence, maybe it wasn't. Other odd things happen there. There is the famous story about the "creeping coffins of Barbados". Please read that story thru the link I supplied. It will amaze you. Demons? Maybe. But if that were the case, then we'd better get the whole armor of God on and prepare for the end-times to come when millions of demons will be released according to Revelation. You see, there is much in liberal Christianity that does not take the Devil literally, and the doctrine of sin and atonement is severely watered down so that all the saving power of that message is lost. I'm serious. This is a serious message. The Devil is real, and we must accept Christ's atoning work for our salvation. Many so-called Christian people do not realize the immense power of the forces of darkness. As I've said on this site many times, this is intense warfare between Satan's Kingdom and God's Kingdom as expressed throughout the ages by his chosen people and ultimately, the coming Kingdom of God when it will be perfected by the presence of the Lord Himself as he takes the throne of David presently held by the British Monarchs.

Back to the UFO story. Did I see one up in the air? No. But I almost did. The kids and I were stranded at the Washington-Dulles Airport overnight because we missed our last connecting flight for the evening. Much to my surprise, the very same day we flew to Washington (July 26, 2002), a blue, speedy object (as it was described) was seen over that vicinity. This was confirmed by a Washington Post article that said the military sent two F-16 fighters to pursue it. The military claimed it was a "routine launch" but the same admittedly did not know what they were chasing after! They were practicing on pursuing a target that they did not know what it was! Some routine! Whatever the object was just disappeared. There is a strange addendum to this story. I was told that a radio program claimed to the very day 50 years ago other UFO sightings were seen over Washington. That is not difficult to prove since I have a detailed book listing dates of supposed sightings (at least the major ones). I wanted to make sure this wasn't just sensationalism. Sure enough, there were sightings on July 19,20, and 26, 1952. That was close enough for me to take some interest.

Now I did not say that I never saw a UFO while on land. That is to say if one takes the strictest definition of the acronym: Unidentified Flying Object. What I saw I could not identify, but in the strictest terms, UFO means just that. We cannot identify the object. Only the media and sensationalists claim that UFOs are synonymous with extraterrestrials. This is not necessarily true. You be the judge as to what I saw. However, I found the incident rather humorous considering the conditions I saw it under. You see, I was looking at the stars with my neighbor friend (see picture below for an idea of what I saw) when suddenly this dark, large, and quiet triangular object just smoothly zipped over our heads. It blackened out many of the stars in what I would say was a 20-30 degree arc. What made this humorous was this same gentleman did not believe in extraterrestrials at all. He could not understand how life out there could exist. At the same time, one could see he nervously denied the existence of life elsewhere as if it was his inability to deal with it. Well, when he saw that thing with me, he promptly exclaimed, "What was that?" I joked it probably was a UFO, maybe from another world. No, he believed it was just a flock of birds. Hmmmm. I do not know. Me thinks birds would not blacken out an area that large. There would have been "holes" between them. A bat? I think a bat was also too small and erratic of a flyer to make such a huge blackout like that because this thing glided smoothly and in a straight line. Maybe it was an owl. An owl may be large enough and roughly triangular enough to do that, but all I must say is that even something as large as an owl would have had to fly extremely low for us to see it from the same vantage point since we were standing several feet apart. Besides, I lived in the city back then. I suppose owls do live there, but I've never seen one in my area. You be the judge.

This map shows the entire night sky about the time of the year I saw the "UFO". The whole circle represents the 180 degree arc of the sky. When I was looking up, I remember my chin was east (hence the bottom of this picture). The triangular object glided over our heads heading west. I'd say the object blackened out about one sixth of the sky as shown on the picture.
