Christmas and the Bible

By Liaf

A few short years back we did a message about the pagan source of Halloween. In addition, we've shown some relationships of that Celtic festival with the lost house of Israel. It was just another one of those many subtle links we as a nation have with the ancient Israelites.

Oftentimes you hear more conservative Christians say, "I won't have my kids celebrating that pagan holiday." They warn you not to dress up and to have any fun (God forbid if we have a little fun). Even imitating anything to do with the devil in jest opens doors for demonic influences and idolatry. Actually, I have no problem celebrating it in fun. That does not make one a Satan worshipper any more than church attendance makes one saved. So, I often said to the more serious and 'funless' crowd who would give me dire warnings: I will give up my Halloweens when you give up your Christmas! The tune rapidly changes. I stopped the mouth of a grave evangelist that warned me of the "dangers" of the pyramid. "That's witchcraft," he cautioned me. As well meaning as he was, I promptly said the same things about Christmas. Silence prevailed for a moment or two until he hesitatingly agreed. Could he have had that Christmas wreath he hung on his door, the Christmas gift exchanging, or the Christmas tree in mind? You see, if Halloween is the devil's family fun picnic, then Christmas is the devil's serious construction project.

Like is or lump it, Christmas is a winter solstice festival honoring pagan gods; the likes of which were they type idolatrous Israel worshipped. Christ was born nowhere near December 25th, although some die-hard theologians try to twist the facts to make it seem that way so that they can keep their cherished traditions of men. Most authorities will agree that Jesus was born either in the spring or autumn. We here at www.eternalthroneofdavid.com site believe he was born early autumn, namely, late September. Either way, that's THREE MONTHS difference from the celebrated date. What gives?

If you read our messages in the stars series, we taught some basic astronomical concepts. These concepts were not understood by the ancients. We now know why the sun sinks further and further south and hangs there for awhile (called the solstice because of its stationary position) and then comes back up toward the north again until we have a summer solstice and long days. It all has to do with that 23.5 degree tilt of the Earth. However, the ancients worshipped the sun, and when the sun sank to its lowest point during late December, they feared this life-giving source would not return. Sure enough, it did and as it started coming back up they celebrated it as the birthday of the sun.

Let's just take the time to look over some of our Christmas customs and how that relates to sun god worship. First of all, we have the "Yule log" tradition. Because of the disappearance of fireplaces, this has been replaced by cakes representing the log. This began as a winter solstice custom to hurry back the sinking sun. The celebration involved lighting of the log and merry-making. The name was derived from a Scandinavian tradition of burning the log for the winter solstice for weeks, but other societies including Greece, Ireland, England, etc. had burning logs as well to simulate the light of the sun.

There is no doubt that the sinking sun caused alarm in older societies, but in the practical sense, creating light from a fire was beneficial because of the short days. Remember, there were no electric lights back then. We just turn on our lights earlier without much thought as the days get shorter, and the shorter hours are not so much an alarm for us as it is a nuisance. The same goes for heat. We just turn up the thermostats a notch. However, this idea of creating light carried on in our traditions, and the church "Christianized" this pagan time (if you can't beat them, join them and change it around a little). The light was now Christ, the light of the world. Hence, candles, lights and stars are hung all around. Beware of false Christs the Bible warns, and of Satan it says:

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. (II Corinthians 11:13-14)

I realize the subject is pertaining to false apostles. However, the modus operandi of Satan is similar in other instances, i.e., he transforms himself into an angel of light. In addition, think about what MOST religious leaders say about Christmas. Do they try to abolish it or "Christianize" it in regards to its paganism? Think about it. And yet, these same types will tell you how to avoid and shun a site such as this (for fear of going to hell) claiming we are heretical. Tell me. Where is there ANYTHING in the Bible about Yule logs and lighting fires for the solstice???? Yet, we use the BIBLE to support what we teach. Incredible.

Let's go to the next abominable custom, the Christmas tree. To the Druids, the evergreen represented everlasting life because of its ability to survive the cold, and the green branches represented the never-ending strength of the sun. Hmmmm. Where did we hear about these folks before? And what of the Celtic Druids? Did we not connect them to the ancient house of Israel? What does the Bible warn about the Christmas tree?

Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. (Jeremiah 10:1-5)

That's a PERFECT DESCRIPTION of a Christmas tree! "No it is not!!!" screams the evangelist who wants to Christianize the holiday while anathemizing what we teach and this site. The evangelist continues to protest, "It says that he works it with his hands which means he shapes it into an idol--- it's not the original tree shape!!!" Oh? Really? So if we skip one step and don't shape it that makes the practice any better? Cut me a break, you twisted, perverted so-called minister of God. Tell me, where do we get our Christmas trees? Either from a forest, or in more recent times, a Christmas tree farm (like a forest). We CUT IT DOWN, and then we DECK IT WITH SILVER AND GOLD garland. We used to fasten it by nails onto a wooden tree-stand (now a metallic, adjustable stand) and certainly the tree is perfectly upright. If it leans a little, we adjust the tree-stand until it is vertical. To WHOM is the warning directed? To the HOUSE OF ISRAEL no less. Why can't we put two and two together? It is an IDOL, and nothing else! It cannot bring us luck or do us harm because it is a stupid tree! And what do the ornaments, especially the BALLS on the tree represent? For you all with your minds in the gutter today, that's EXACTLY what they represent. Today you dirty-minded ones rate as the best students. There is a fertility theme involved here. The Christmas wreath is just as pagan. It is round like the sun! It represents the sun. That's why I put zodiac symbols all around the wreath picture at the top of this page. In addition, if I am to have a Christmas tree, I want to deck it out in the true spirit of Christmas. I place zodiac ornaments all around it and cast horoscopes. "That's awful!" say conservative Christians. Well, at least I'm calling a spade a spade and not Christianizing it. While I do this, I laugh my A__(BLANK) off making fun of the very symbols that used to have me in their fearful grip back in the days I knew no better. I just enjoy decorating so I can blaspheme all that Christmas stands for.

"Ah, but Liaf, can't we get a little romantic here? Must you be so serious? Let's kiss a pretty girl under the mistletoe!" The mistletoe custom came from the Norse goddess Frigga with the reputation of love, marriage, and fertility. She blessed the mistletoe when her slain son (from an arrow created from the mistletoe) was restored to life. So, anyone kissing under the mistletoe has this blessing. Again, the Northern European nations and their relationship to the house of Israel makes us understand that this is one of the many gods (or goddesses) that they worshipped that brought about their exile to begin with.

For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing. (II Kings 17:12)

Tell ya what. Get the pretty girl bleedin' drunk for the holidays and she won't mind where she kisses you if you want a kiss that badly. Maybe you can get her so soused she won't remember or care. "That's awful!" say the conservative Christians. Tell ya what. Don't take advantage and keep your hands to yourself--- I think that's better than giving the goddess Frigga homage, even inadvertently, which is one of the reasons Israel was cast out of their land to begin with!

"Well, we should give gifts like the Wisemen did! It teaches us to love giving to others as Christ gave to us!" conservative Christians may say. Let me tell you something. I'd be a little leery of a holiday that the entire world celebrates as the next verse from the Apostle Paul teaches. I'll tell you the best gift that God wants from us. It is found in Romans 12:1-2:

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

This includes not only us, but also our material possessions to others. Why not use our gift money to further God's work or to help the poor? I think that's better than feeding the insatiable appetites of some who cannot be appeased with 1000 times the gift giving we do. The idea of gift giving was found in the Roman solstice feast of Saturnalia in honor of the Roman god Saturn. Besides gift giving, it was a long winter festival of (surprise!) merry-making, dancing, family gatherings, and decorating! If this does not sound like Christmas today, I don't know what does! And to think, the Christian church just "Christianized" the holiday to make it the birthday of the SON of God instead of the Sun God!

So there you have it! The pagan origins of Christmas. However, I won't say you can't spend family time together or have fun including gift giving. I'm just telling you to realize it for what it is: a solstice festival and nothing else. It matters not to Christ if you don't celebrate it. And for sure, at least realize the pagan origins of the customs lest you link them to Christ, which is an abhorrence. Then, in all the festivities, remember to give to God's work and to help others.
